All Halle Lux sheets are made with glass fibre reinforcement in the form of ready-made glass fibre mats. Using mats lets us keep an even thickness both along and across the sheets. The mats are produced to tolerances according to ISO 3374.
Many other manufacturers of glass fibre reinforced rooflights chop fibres from rolls during production, so-called roving. The result is uneven reinforcement and therefore weak zones in the finished sheets, and the sheets look blotchy.
Reinforcement weights can be varied. We supply sheets with 375 g/m² (approx. 0.85 mm), 450 g/m² (approx. 1 mm), 750 g/m² (approx. 1.3 mm), 900 g/m² (approx. 2 mm) and 1200 g/m² (approx. 2.6 mm). Together with the polyester these give surface weights of 1.3, 1.5, 2.5, 2.9 and 3.8 kg/m². The weight varies with profile type since profile factors differ. The reinforcement weight is given as position 5 in our article numbers.
Capacitate portantă
According to the Swedish building regulations BFS 1998:38, structures must be tested or calculated for the loads products and structures may be exposed to. An extensive test series has been carried out to determine failure moments and EI values for different Halle Lux sheets. Many different 20, 45 and higher profiles have been tested, and various reinforcement weights (375, 450, 750 and 900 g/m²) were included. For clarity, recommended load–span combinations are presented for 20 and 45 profiles. If the profile height is between 20 and 40 mm, use the 20 table. For profile heights above 40 mm, use the 45 table.
Note that the tests were made with our standard surface film and with chopped bonded glass fibre in mats. Both factors contribute to the strength.
Span means the distance between the centres of adjacent purlins or rails. The load values are those obtained when standard loads are combined with the relevant shape factors.
The S factor represents different safety factors, 1.5 and 2.5. The spans giving a deflection of L/45 are also stated. For good performance, riveting should be used in the side overlap at max. 500 mm centres. Safety factor 2.5 is recommended for roofs and 1.5 for walls. The tables can be used for both snow and wind loads.
Since Halle Lux sheets connect to metal sheeting on all four sides and the side overlaps are properly joined, the spans in the tables may be increased by 10 % for single and two-span layouts. Permitted cantilever outside a support is 20 % of the permitted span between supports. The cantilever is the distance between the free end of the Halle Lux sheet and the centre of the outermost rail.
